Ireland 5

We drove the coast looking for lunch. Found it in Ballyvaughan, at Monks, a seafood restaurant.

Ballyvaughan is a coastal town.

And we found Sheelanagigs, female figures clutching their vaginas, often on Christian churches. These figures are really interesting, far more graphic than you’d think would be in a church, but they are all over Ireland and have mythology of their own. This one was set into the wall of Bunratty Castle.

And this one, weathered as it is, is still set above the entrance of a ruined church in Killinaboy. I bought a silver charm of this one.
